Pawlov’s Chrono Haste**

4th-level chronomancy

You momentarily fracture the fabric of time, drawing upon alternate realities to hasten your casting.

Immediately upon casting this spell, you must cast another spell of your choice as part of the same action, the casting time of this spell becomes 1 action. When doing so, 1d4 alternate realities converge, each contributing a spell slot to the casting. Sum the levels of these contributed spell slots to determine the effective spell level of the secondary spell. Each converged reality expends its respective spell slot of any level as part of this process.

Convergence Loopback. At the start of each of your subsequent turns, for each converged reality, you must make a spellcasting ability check with a DC of 10 + the level of the spell slot contributed by that reality. On a success, you expend a spell slot of the same level from your own reserves. If you do not have an available spell slot of that level, you take unavoidable psychic damage equal to 1d10 per level of the missing spell slot. On a failure, you suffer the same consequences as on a success and, in addition, cannot take actions or reactions until the start of your next turn.

Once all loopback checks for each converged reality are resolved, this spell ends, and the additional spell is cast.

If this spell is ended prematurely by a dispel effect, the convergence strain lashes back. You suffer 3d10 psychic damage for each spell slot level contributed by the converged realities.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you may converge one additional reality.
